Dear Happily Married Couple,

Congratulations on your years of marriage together. Whether it is a few years, many years, or a special upcoming anniversary year for you, it would be my privilege to help you create a special way of celebrating your anniversary.

I am available for many kinds of venues. Weddings and anniversary celebrations I have done include: outdoor settings in private backyards, public parks, and sunset cruises! Inside locations have been elegant formal venues as well as informal living rooms.

Some couples have chosen to have a formal vow renewal and others a simple prayer of thanksgiving for the years they have shared and a prayer of blessing for the years to come. What are your hopes and dreams for your anniversary? How can I help you have the anniversary celebration that reflects your relationship? Here are some ideas for how you can celebrate your wedding anniversary:

A little background

Wording about how you first met and your wedding.

The Location selected

Why is the location you’ve selected for your wedding anniversary important to you?

Welcome

Your guests can be welcomed briefly or with some special wording of how they have been there for you as a couple.

Remembrances

This can be an opportunity to pause and call to mind silently those family members who are sick and in need of our prayerful support and for those who have passed as well. You can refer in general to loved ones or you can name specific people who have been significant in your marriage or who were there at your wedding.

A Special Ceremony

Special Ceremonies do not have to be limited to weddings. See my descriptions of some popular ones. The choices for a special ceremony are truly unlimited.

Marriage Renewal Vows

Exchange the original vows from your wedding.

You each could write a re-commitment or I could lead you in one (as in ‘Repeat after me’). If you want to write them yourselves but need help getting started, I can assist you.

Prayer over Rings

There is a lovely blessing of rings that I can tailor to you celebrating your years of marriage.

Reflection on Hands

This is a beautiful reflection on your hands together through the years—fitting for an anniversary as well as a wedding day.

An Anniversary Prayer

I composed a Prayer of Blessing over the couple for Jack & Jenny’s 25th Anniversary Celebration. You can read their reviews here.

Readings

Readings can be poems, inspirational thoughts, words to songs, traditional Scriptures.

You could have attendees of your anniversary read them.

If you had certain readings when you got married, you could choose to incorporate those into your wedding anniversary.

One couple I worked with found a reading suitable for the two of them to read together. There were parts where they alternated reading by themselves and parts of the reading they read in unison. A wonderful way to express your individuality and your unity!

Involving Others

Is anyone attending who was at your wedding? Would you like them to have a special role? Or would you like to honor or recognize them in some way?

Exchange of Rings

You can also renew exchanging your wedding rings.

Something else that is symbolic could be exchanged: engraved rings with your renewal date, a particular flower or words to a song or a poem that have taken on meaning over the years.

Photos

Display wedding photo, other photos of your wedding, your bridal party—then and through the years. Others could be asked to bring their own photographs to contribute.

A Toast

By someone or more than one person.
By whoever gave the toast at the wedding, the Best Man or Maid/Matron of Honor.

In Conclusion

As I have said about the Special Ceremonies, your choices are limitless for this very special event in your married life! It would be an honor to help you plan and celebrate it.
